Session: This is Just Intermission
3 p.m. Tuesday, May 4
When the shutdowns came, the arts and music industries were among the first to turn off their lights and likely the last to come back. The story of the struggle has been told, notably in a survey conducted by Crosscut’s arts and culture desk, but we’ll look ahead with leaders from the creative community at a forever changed, but determined return. This conversation will be with Vivian Hua 華婷婷, Erin Johnson and Tim Lennon, and moderator and Crosscut Arts & Culture reporter Margo Vansynghel.
About Vivian Hua 華婷婷
Vivian Hua 華婷婷 (she/they) is a writer, filmmaker, and organizer. As the Executive Director of Northwest Film Forum in Seattle and Editor-in-Chief of the interdisciplinary arts publication, REDEFINE, much of their work unifies their metaphysical interests with their belief that art can positively transform the self and society. They regularly share human-centered stories through their storytelling newsletter, RAMBLIN’ WITH VEE! In 2021, they will begin production on a comedic Asian-American series entitled Reckless Spirits. They are passionate about cultural space preservation and creation, as well as seeking ways to covertly and overtly disrupt oppressive structures.
